JYJ as UNAIDS Goodwill ambassador

 Kim jae joong

Do you guys know we are UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassadors? Junsu~!! what special day is December 1?

Asian pop band “JYJ” appointed as UNAIDS Regional Goodwill Ambassador

BUSAN, South Korea, 26 August 2011—“JYJ,” a three-member Korean pop (K-pop) band from the Republic of Korea, have been named UNAIDS Regional Goodwill Ambassadors for Asia and the Pacific. Formed in 2010, JYJ has a large following among young people in the Republic of Korea, across Asia and beyond.
“Jae joong, Yoochan and Jun su (JYJ) are going to make a big difference in the AIDS response through the UNAIDS Ambassadorship,” said UNAIDS Executive Director Michel Sidibé. “With their incredible popularity and influence in the Republic of Korea and beyond, I count on them to reach millions of young people in this region and worldwide with important HIV messages,” he added.
As UNAIDS Regional Goodwill Ambassadors, JYJ will take part in a number of events and public appearances—including a performance at the Congress on AIDS in Asia and the Pacific (ICAAP10), a gathering of AIDS experts and activists from 26-30 August 2011 in Busan, South Korea. Through these and other events, JYJ will raise awareness around HIV and join the effort to end AIDS-related stigma and discrimination. They will also highlight AIDS issues through their social media networks.
“Young people in our country, and across Asia, need to know more about avoiding HIV infection,” said JYJ band member Jae joong at a press conference in Busan to announce the UNAIDS appointment. “Knowledge and awareness can help people protect themselves and break down stigma and discrimination.” His band-mate Yoochun concurred, adding: “AIDS has been here since before I was born. Our generation can be the one that ends it!”
“We can reach the goals of zero new HIV infections, zero discrimination and zero AIDS-related deaths,” said Jun su, the third JYJ band member. “We are very proud to participate in this cause.”
JYJ have previously been involved in a number of charitable activities. They have made major donations to relief operations in disaster-struck areas of Japan, as well as to child health campaigns. Underlining their commitment to the AIDS response, JYJ recently accepted the role of ‘Official Ambassador’ for ICAAP10.
Globally, an estimated 41% of people who have recently become HIV-positive are younger than the age of 25. In Asia and the Pacific, young people from key affected populations— including young sex workers, men who have sex with men, and adolescent drug users— face a particularly high risk of HIV infection as well as high levels of stigma and discrimination.

JYJ‘s Junsu was awarded the ‘Popular Star Award‘ at the 17th annual Korean Musical Awards that took place at Olympic Hall on November 14th.
The winners for the Popular Star Award were chosen based on viewer’s votes alone, and actress Yoon Gong Ju of ‘Tears of Heaven‘ also received the award alongside Junsu.
The singer who has been actively promoting himself as a musical star remarked, “Thank you for presenting me with such a valuable award. The musical would not have been possible without the hard work of each and every staff and cast member.”
He continued, “There are times when the number of people who come to our shows does not represent the amount of effort we put in to the performances, or the amount of support that you guys show us. So the fact that I can stand here to receive this award is deeply meaningful. Thank you to all of the fans that come and enjoy our shows.”
In related news, Junsu has been cast in a new musical ‘Elizabeth‘ which will premiere in 2012.

TVXQ as National treasure status =)

TVXQ left for Sydney, Australia, through Incheon Airport on November 10 at around 7pm in the evening.
On this day, TVXQ arrived at the airport together with guards who were strictly vigilant. However, they were not unreasonable guards, merely guards from “CSA Security” who thoroughly kept at bay the crowd of fans who were getting close.
This departure was for the purpose of performing at the Hallyu concert “K-Pop Music Festival in Sydney”, which will be held in Sydney’s AMZ Stadium on November 12.
Meanwhile, the ”K-Pop Music Festival in Sydney” is a concert prepared to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Korea-Australia diplomatic relations. A diverse spectacle of eye-catching performances will be put up by the singers at this combined performance. This festival is scheduled to be broadcast on December 3.

Changmin monopolize oricons #1 n #2 spot

Note: this article refers to the “Paradise Ranch” DVDs clinching the #1 and #2 positions in the “drama” category on the Oricon Charts. Previously, we have reported here that in the “overall” category on the Oricon Charts, they placed #4 and #5 respectively.
==========
The first piece of work in which TVXQ’s Choikang Changmin has a leading role, “Paradise Ranch” DVD, has monopolized Oricon.
According to Oricon on November 9, the “Paradise Ranch Full Edition DVD BOX 1″ and “Paradise Ranch Full Edition DVD BOX 2″, both of which went on sale on November 2, has risen to the #1 and #2 positions side by side in the drama category on the Oricon DVD Weekly Charts ending November 14.
Previously, the two sets of U-Know Yunho’s first leading role, “Heading To The Ground” DVD, which went on sale in June last year in Japan, won the #1 and #2 positions on the same chart, showing a peek into the huge interest that Japan has in TVXQ’s members.
With the beautiful Jeju Island scenery as the background, “Paradise Ranch” is a drama which showcases the beautiful love between 3rd generation chaebol Han Dong Joo (Choikang Changmin/Shim Changmin) and prodigy girl Lee Da Ji (Lee Yeon Hee). In the DVD sold in Japan, Choikang Changmin personally undertook the dubbing for his own role in the drama, signalling his first challenge at voice acting.
Meanwhile, “Paradise Ranch” has been confirmed for broadcast on cable and on Fuji TV in November, moving in to conquer the terrestrial networks.

Yesterday, we published an article about Woosang expressing his gratitude to Yunho. Today a new article with more information on what Yunho said to him was published.

<AA Woosang, Background As TVXQ’s Dancer… U-Know Yunho Sunbae-nim Looks Upon Me Fondly>
Leader of rookie group AA, Woosang, has expressed his gratitude for U-Know Yunho during his days as TVXQ’s dancer.
Upon meeting with reporters recently, Woosang introduced his special acquaintance with TVXQ, “Before I debuted through AA, I was active as TVXQ’s dancer. I even toured with TVXQ on their Asia tour.”
He went on to express his gratitude to U-Know Yunho, “There was a time when AA’s debut was approaching. I went to the hair salon and there were many seniors from the music industry there. I felt intimidated and just stayed at one corner, but U-Know Yunho sunbae-nim came over and asked me if I was preparing to become a singer. He then introduced me to all the singers in the salon, saying that I was going to debut and be a rookie soon.”
In addition, he smiled and said, “That period coincided with the time when our debut single “Because I’m Crazy” was just completed, so I offered the song to U-Know Yunho sunbae-nim for a listen. U-Know Yunho sunbae-nim listened to it carefully and evaluated it to be a very good song. He also encouraged me and gave me a variety of advice about the things I have to look out for while being active in the music industry. He even told me that it was okay to tell people that I was close to him, so I was really happy.”
